ArcGIS online and Geocortex

My boss has asked me to research the possiblity of using ArcGIS online for hosting our Geocortex sites and associated map services to reduce the load on our web servers. Is any of this possible and has anyone done something similar? AGOL is foreign territory for me.

  Hi Rebecca, 

   

  You can use AGOL to host all your map services but the sites themselves would still have to sit on your server and run off of your web server but this would definitely lighten its load. 

   

  Another thing to consider is that AGOL consumes credits for hosting your web services. You can easily track your credit consumption in AGOL but it is just another thing to think about. Is it more efficient to host your map services on AGOL and have it consume credits every month? Or is it better to host the services on your local web server and spend the money on improving the hardware?
