Optimal System Architecture

We are in the process of creating a SQL Server database which will contain database views created from another system.

 

So, after establishing a data connection for a particular map service linked to this database view, are there any issues that have been encountered with such an environment?

 

For example, we have one point for a location of a ground water sampling station. One of these sampling stations has thousands of sampling records that will need to be drilled out with workflows, template reports and charts. 

 

What I'm wondering about is:

 

i) Is this an optimal environment to work in?

 

ii) Are there performance issues related to this environment?

 

iii) What are the disadvantages?

 

Any input would be appreciated.

  Sorry for the delay getting you a reply on this!  I can't think of any specific issues with your proposed deployment, but if you want a more in-depth look at this, I would suggest opening a support case so we can help you do some business analysis on this project.  It's hard to answer your specific questions without knowing a little more about your environment.
