Print error: Timeout exceeded
Hi All,
I am having an error in printing the map.
I am using a print templates for many scales. I tested these templates on my local machine and it’s worked fine at all scales, except scales: 4000, and 8000, and when I use the same templates on the following portal, error is displayed as following:
Geomolg.pna.ps

Moreover, this error is appeared on all other scales for A0 portrait, but it worked fine on my local machine.

What might be the issue here?
All the Best,

Sorry for the confusion, kindly see the correct portal: geomolg.ps/ 0 -
As I've suggested over on (https://support.geocortex.com/EssentialsGSCForum?sub-nav=forum&main-nav=Essentials&feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&dc=GEManager&criteria=ALLQUESTIONS&id=90660000000CkYvAAK) this thread , I think the print request is simply timing out due to the size of the resulting print job. I'd try using asynchronous (or large-format) printing. 0 -
Dear Jordan,
This error happens just when using A0 Layout “A0 landscape & Portrait” despite the fact it worked well previously, what might the issue here
Please feel free to test the issue in out site “Geomolg.ps”0 -
Dear Jordan,

Hi Jordan,
We noticed that the “time out exceeded” error is unstable behavior, it sometimes appears when trying to print a large-format (A0, A1…), and unfortunately the configuration of Large-Format Printing in the Geocortex Essentials Administrator Guide (section 39.7 in the 4.6 version of the documentation) will not work with us since it is supporting PDF only.
Please note that we are using GE 4.8.2 and GVH 2.9.1.
Hi Noor,
I do not agree with you; the issue persist to exists.

Has anyone figure out other settings to avoid such very frustrating message "timeout exceeded"? 0 -
Hi All,
I tried to edit REST web.config file as following:
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="20480" requestValidationMode="2.0" enableVersionHeader="false" executionTimeout="60"/>
This was implemented to increase the timeout for all workflows before appearing this alert ,but the same alert was achieved. I’m not sure if this really can help.
I will be thankful if someone could suggest another solution for this issue to prevent the "timeout error" from appearing.
Thanks,
Fatin0 -
Hi Fatin,
The best solution here is to use Print Jobs however I understand you do not want a PDF format. The quickest solution for your predicament is to use Print Jobs and convert the PDF output to what format you require. At the same time, I would recommend adding an "idea" to our "Ideas" forum requesting that Print Jobs support other formats. This will allow other users to comment and up-vote the idea. Web browsers are not designed to wait for long running jobs, the assumption is there will be quick requests and quick responses. The Print Job setting is the way to bypass this restriction.

Thanks Wayne,
Either way, we are in trouble due to the facts below- Pdf format fails to type Arabic fonts properly (screenshot is below)
- Jpg format ha timeout issue
How might we resolve this dilemma?

I have setup the "Enable Print Jobs" for an A0 landscape. It emails me a link to Geocortex (the pdf is not attached), The 13Mb PDF format is all weird, it looks like it is splitting the page in "bands".

Hi Frederic,
Thank you for your participating your findings in this issue. We check the "enable print jobs" option. The timeout error disappeared, but the result was as following screenshots.

What do you think?

Thanks for sharing the good stuff as we also started receiving this error message. I started to look for applying suggested changes as mentioned in this and other threads however, it didn't help for one or other reasons. It seems that it is a system resources issue and in my case a simply restart of the server helped. Probably, we need to monitor our server resources and do the needful if we get this issue as one of the possible resolutions. 0
