This is to report that the GE 4.7\GVH2.8 starts up with black page that stays for a while before calling the layers.
What might be the issue here?

Hi Jamal,
This happens as a result of porting of the HTML5 viewer to an asynchronous module system in version 2.8, which Jason talked about in (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?sub-nav=forum&main-nav=essentials&id=90660000000Ck1mAAC) this thread . Previously, none of the viewer modules would load until all of them had finished downloading, and the browser window would have stayed completely blank until all of the modules had loaded. As of 2.8, the viewer loads each module as it is downloaded, so several of the viewer components appear before the map does, and much sooner than they would have previously.
There is an issue where the Loading... indicator intermittently does not display while the map layers are still loading (GVH-14635). We're looking into this.0 -
In the meantime, is there a way to keep the splash screen visible until all of the modules have loaded? This would make it clearer to the user that the application is still loading. 0 -
Or on some occasions, there seems to be an indicator that the site is still loading, but I only rarely see it - what's up with that? 0 -
Andrew: Sorry, no. In 2.8, the splash screen is hidden when all the modules have loaded. The duration is not configurable.
Mike: That's GVH-14635. We're still working on that one.0 -
Is there any way to priotise what map services are loaded first? In an ideal world you would want the basemap service to load and then the other map services. 0 -
Hi Jordan,
Does this mean that having the blank page (as the geocortex starts up) is by design?0 -
Hi Halil,
The order the map services are loaded is controlled by the Esri JS API. At the moment, we don't have any way to influence this.
Thanks,

Danny,
According to what I was told earlier in another thread (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?sub-nav=forum&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&id=90660000000PEUhAAO) once GVH-14635 is fixed, the viewer will display "Loading..." message instead of being blank. Am I correct? I really hope this will be fixed soon. We have decided not to release new version to our users until this is fixed.
Thanks

Hi Masao,
I think these are 2 different issues. Jamal is asking about the white screen, and you are asking about the little loading popup that occasionally does not show at the bottom (If I'm understanding correctly). You are correct though, once GVH-14635 is fixed, you should see a little "loading..." message at the bottom of the screen when the viewer is loading the map services.
I'm afraid a fix for that issue will not be in 2.8.1, but we are triaging it for 2.9!
Thanks,

Danny,
When the map is loading initially, the "Loading..." message does not show most of the time (not occassionally). So the map pane is blank without any indication of anything happening. A normal web user will start clicking things or try to reload if nothing happens for 5 - 10 seconds. So we think this is critical.
Thanks

Masao,
While I agree the long empty screen is a pain, it is only my full site that has that problem, and those users tend to open the site in the morning and leave it on all day. In my opinion, the other improvements are worth doing the upgrade.0 -
As I posted in (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?id=90660000000PEUhAAO) this other thread we will have a fix for GVH-14635 in the 2.9 HTML5 viewer. 0
