How to add an image or message text box on top of the map window
Hi,
I'd like to display an image when a certain map layer is selected (as additional legend) and a text message when a certain tool is selected (not as a tool tip), both on top of the map in the HTML viewer. It should not require any user action, just shows whenever the layer is visible/tool is activated. Can you please describe what Geocortex offers here in terms of functionality to make this happen? I'm new to Geocortex, but fine with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.

Just had a request about something similar, more a pop up message when a layer is activated. Did you ever find a solution to this?

Hey guys,
I did some looking into this, but I don't think it's possible to have a popup show when activating a layer from the layer list. You can use a workflow to do this, but I'm afraid it's not very user friendly (as you would need to call that workflow from the toolbar, or the I Want To menu, which is a little counter intuituve when your users are used to using the layer list).
The good news is though, you can also use a workflow to accomplish the other task you mentioned (a popup when a tool is selected).
In regards to the first issue, if you would like to see that functionality added, I'd suggest posting it to the ideas section, so users can view it and vote on it. If it's something critical for your application, and you don't want to wait, please reach out to us, as it may be possible with custom development. If you want to try coding it yourself (You mentioned in the original post that you were comfortable with HTML, CSS, and JS), you can check out the API that comes with the viewer zip file (on the support center) and try adding the module yourself :)
