Correctly detect the IP address of a client in Analytics

When looking up an IP address that a user connected from, the IP address displays as the 'last hop'. So for example if the viewer is behind a reverse proxy or a load balancer, the IP address of that device will show up as the originating connection for all incoming connections tracked by Analytics.

We should try and get this information from the user's browser, or another external source if possible.

  We have been requesting this since ages at the era of optimizer with no action. No with analytics it is not there neither.

  Can an agent be insalled on the proxy? Part of the reason we bought Analyitics was to check ip addresses and returning users. Very dissapointed in this not working.

  This is highly dependant on how your shop has everything setup and what header data passes through.
