Quick note about the SDK samples for Geocortex Viewer for HMTL5: as with versions 2.8.1 and 2.8.2, the samples are using AMD development patterns. The distribution does not contain running samples that you can deploy on your server as it did prior to 2.8.1; it contains the sample code only. The samples are hosted online instead. (https://docs.geocortex.com/essentials/gvh/latest/SamplesViewer/) They can be found here .

How do I get to Workflow 5?

  • Drew Millen

    Hi Jeff,

Geocortex Workflow 5 has entered into an open Technology Preview phase. You are able to discover it and access it via the ArcGIS Marketplace at https://marketplace.arcgis.com/index.html.

During the Technology Preview, Geocortex Workflow 5 is still under active development. We'll be transitioning to an open beta in a couple of weeks, and targeting the commercial release in mid-August. Until then, we'd love for you to jump in, discover the product, and provide any feedback to us you can.

    Thanks!

I'm unable to access GW 5.  I've added it to my organization from the marketplace but when asked to sign the page goes nowhere.  This is true whether I try to authenticate with AGO or Geocortex.

    Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your report!  Jordan, our community manager, has been in contact with Scott to gather some more information regarding what is happening. We are actively working on the resolution, and will post here once the issue has been resolved.

I am sorry for this inconvenience, and we hope to have this resolved shortly!

    Best wishes,

    Hi folks,

The issue you were experiencing while attempting to log in to Geocortex Workflow Designer has been fixed, so you should now find that you can log in. Please (To: communities@geocortex.com) contact me if you still have issues while logging in to either the Designer or GW5 Community.

What is the difference with free items on the marketplace?  I can access other free items on the marketplace but the Geocortex Workflow item prompts for a "Request Free Item".

Hi, could we get confirmation that workflows built with older versions of Essentials will continue to function in 4.8? Are old workflows compatible with GW5?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dean,

Yes! Workflows built with Geocortex Essentials 4.x will continue to function indefinitely. We have no deprecation or retirement plans for workflows built with 4.x so you can be sure that they will work in Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 applications with today's version (2.9) and in future versions.

Regarding your second question, workflows built with Geocortex Workflow 5 can invoke workflows built with Geocortex Essentials 4.x. In fact, we built an activity specifically for that reason: (http://docs.geocortex.com/workflow/latest/help/Default.htm#wf5/help/activities/run-essentials-workflow.htm) https://docs.geocortex.com/workflow/latest/help/Default.htm#wf5/help/activities/run-essentials-workflow.htm .

From a use-case perspective, this is a great way to enable a 5-series workflow to access server-side capabilities.

If by "compatible" you meant that Geocortex Workflow 5 Designer could interpret or open a 4.x workflow, then that's not the case. Workflows built with Geocortex Essentials 4.x and workflows built with Geocortex Workflow 5 are fundamentally different, and we can't translate or convert an existing workflow to a 5-series workflow.

    I hope this helps!

    Drew.

    Hi, all,

On our dedicated (https://communities.geocortex.com/workflow) Geocortex Workflow community , we have a great resource to answer some of the questions that we're commonly asked about Geocortex Workflow. Please visit our (https://communities.geocortex.com/workflow/s/article/ka160000000LCKFAA4/GW5-FAQ) GW5 FAQ page .  We'll be sure to update it to include Drew's answer to Dean's questions there!

    I hope this helps!

    Tyson,

I'm by no means an ArcGIS Marketplace expert, but it appears that only apps offered by Esri can be downloaded immediately via the "View Item" button. All other vendors have a "Request Free Item" button for their apps. This is true even for organizations that are affiliated with Esri, like Esri Labs and Esri UK.

  • Hello, after having updated our test installation to this release, we need to manually update all existing sites a  replace the following code in the viewers .js definition files (desktop, handheld and tablet):
    • “geocortex.essentialsHtmlViewer.mapping.modules.workflow.forms.items” with “geocortex.essentialsHtmlViewer.mapping.infrastructure.ui.components.Forms”
    • “Mapping/modules/Workflow/Forms/Items” with “Mapping/infrastructure/ui/components/Forms”
Also, existing workflows go into time out with the "buffer" task (still checking).

    Anyone else had similar issues?

    Thank you

    Guido
