How can I preserve map extent after sign in?
My site can be used by the public and has a Sign In link for those with accounts. What bothers me is that when using the map and being zoomed to a specific area, if the user wants to then log in to access protected layers in that same area, the initial map extent is loaded after signing in. How can I stop that from happening?
I need for the intial extent after sign in to match the extent before sign in. Has anyone achieved this? Please explain how to enable this.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin
Bookmarks might work fine for your use case. From the documentation "A bookmark is a shortcut that enables end users to jump the map to a particular mapextent."
Try to save a bookmark when you are not signed in. Sign in and then use that bookmark to jump to a particular map extent. Hope that Helps.
Thanks

Thank you Prashant. This would work, but it requires one to remember to save a bookmark before sigining in. Perhaps I ought suggest this to the Ideas section? 0 -
Sure. That's appropriate place to suggest it. :) 0 -
It seems like you "should" be able to do this in a workflow... Capture extent, then get login, then open to extent. That being said, I'm just a rookie at workflows. 0 -
Yes Mike, I had a similar thought, but had been hoping the capability is built-in, To do as you describe I'd need to access the current extent at the click event on the Sign In button to save that extent, then set that as the initial extent after authenticating. When I get some time I might try that. 0 -
Certainly a resonable wish. I would vote for that feature. 0
