White ring apearing around map service symbols

Does anyone know why we are getting a white ring or halo around the symbols of a map service? These do not appear when I bring the same service into an ArcGIS Online map or an ArcMap session. They only occur with Geocortex. Additionally, the rings do not appear when I add the service as a feature service (vs a map service). Any thoughts on how to remove it? Thank you in advance!

  That looks like aliasing.  You can set the image format returned for any mapservice in the service details in Essentials Manager, under the 'Display Settings' tab. Try setting it to a better image type.

   

  This will affect perfomance (better resolution images are bigger files), but may not be noticeable.

  No problem.  You can also adjust the anti-aliasing properties when you publish the map service, which may save you from changing the image format in Essentials.
