Inactive layers request empty image
Hi,
I am using Essentials 4.8.2.24 with GVH 2.9.1, and we are seeing that services with inactive layers call our ArcGIS server for an empty image. Mostly this doesn't take too long, however, other times it takes up to several seconds.
_img_ alt="User-added image" src="https://latitudegeo--c.na53.content.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=906f2000000fy9K&feoid=Body&refid=0EMf2000000kCq1" _/_img_
As it can be seen from the image, it takes 5.26 seconds to load, and for layers it request layers -1, which is therefore an empty image. The request just above is also for an empty image, and this takes 377 ms, which is faster, but seems unnecessary, especially when this happens everytime one moves around on the map.
Is there any reason this happening? Is there any way to turn this off?

Hi Astrid,
I suspect the reason is that the layer visibility and map service visibility are controlled separately, and the map service visibility isn't being automatically switched off in the viewer when there's no layers to draw. I found that when I added a new service to a site and didn't change the layer list configuration afterwards, I could correct this issue. Turining off the folder in the layer list stopped requests being sent to the service. But when I customized my layer list so that the folder no longer represented the map service anymore I had the same issue you described and couldn't get around it. This has been filed as BUG 18968 for consideration.
Thanks for checking about this.

Hi Astrid,
We're planning to include a fix for this issue in the upcoming 2.11 version of the HTML5 viewer.
