Is it possible to display labels in the Viewer for HTML5 from a feature service coming from ArcGIS Online?
I am using a feature service being served up from ArcGIS online. I'm not able to figure out how to turn on the dynamic mapping service and the find the checkbox for "Allow per request modification of layer order and symbology" in order to meet the requirements for showing labels in Essentials. (Using the help page titled "Dynamic Layers-Enabled Map Services" as a guideline. <your URL>/Essentials/production/RestManager/Map/Help)
Is it not possible because AGOL only makes feature services?
I have successfully shown labels from Map Services (not feature services) that are published on our ArcGIS Server, but it doesn't seem to work for AGOL services. Am I missing something or is it just not possible?

<Bump>
Just had a request for a AGOL feature layer to display labels. I said "Sure.", since it seemed like a simple request. Upon further review, the answer is 'No'? This is going to be a tough answer to tell someone.0 -
Hi Ann and Thomas,
Yes, you are right, it is not possible to label features coming from an AGOL hosted feature services.
I would have suggested to you to try publishing annotation, but I tested it and it does not publish correctly to AGOL. I tried from ArcMap, maybe ArcPro can handle it better.
But I would suggest that you create an Idea for this in our Support Ideas (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1) section. This would be a very useful feature, and increasingly so. The more votes an idea gets, the more likely it will be implemented.0 -
This has been added to Ideas. Vote it up! https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCIdeasDetail?sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&c=09a6000000008RsAAI&id=087f2000000bqJZAAY#ideaList-comments 0
