Hi. I'd like to do the following in my WF: export an image of the map, with any markup\graphics, and automatically add that image as an attachment to a feature in my feature service. The size and scale of the image would be constant.

Just looking for some suggestions how to accomplish this. Thanks.?

Hello Zorba,
Until the development of Reporting 5, this is currently a difficult use case in Workflow 5 and would require contacting our Support team.
Your best option might be to invoke a Workflow 4 workflow using the Run Essentials Workflow activity that exports the image with in Export Map, then pass the output data back, collecting it using a Get Workflow Inputs, and use the Add Attachment activity to upload the input to your feature.
Thanks, Stefan

Stefan,
Sounds like this will be easier with reporting 5 capability? Would this be possible to run offline?
Regarding the above option, would the exported image include graphics that the user has added?
Thanks

Hello Zorba,
In the future this will be easier with Reporting 5, but I can't offer any timeline on that. Being able to export the map is not supported offline to my knowledge.
Exported images online will contain client graphics.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks, Stefan

Hi @Stefan Schweigert? , yet to start using R5, about your suggestion above to run Export Map in in WF4 from WF5, but I thought (and tested it ) that as Export Map is a client-side activity therefore I really couldn't get it working via WF5->WF4. Is that right?

@Jack Zhang? : You are correct, sorry for the confusion. Export Map is a client-side activity and cannot be run through this method.

Thanks Stefan to clarify that. So what options do we have now to export map as image. In my case the final part of my workflow is to export the map with client graphic and send to a report with feature attributes.

With workflows, the current best option for production maps/reports would be to use WF4, as you mentioned.
However, the full release of Reporting 5 will be available on July 24th, with it currently being in Beta.

Thanks Stefan. I guess that means I have to rewrite my whole workflow to WF4, which is what I really try to avoid. Great to hear the full release of Reporting5 will come soon. So you reckon with that it will be something allow me pass current map view (with client graphic) to report?
BTW, I have created an idea post to ask add Export Map activity to WF5.

Hi folks, we recently recorded a Tech Tip video highlighting how you could accomplish this using the Export Map REST API in Geocortex Essentials combined with Geocortex Workflow and Geocortex Reporting 5.

Thanks Patrick for the idea and demo. From experience the limitation of this approach are it's difficult to deal with site have multiple map services, and the printing won't carry client markups on viewers.
