Pass variable to linked map
Hello,
I'm wondering if it's possible to pass variable like OjectID of selected feature from GHV5 to linked map? has anyone tried it? thanks.

What do you mean by 'linked map'?
We have a workflow that will take an attribute from a selected feature and use it as a parameter in a URL that then opens another site using that parameter to load data.0 -
I'm sorry been not very specific. when I said "linked maps" I mean the third-party map like AGO or Google Street View that you could launch and synch from GHV5 when click on the "Linked maps" button. in the Google Street Map.html example, i could see the x,y, and POV are sychned between GHV5 and the third party maps. However, i'm wondering how could I pass other variables like objectid of selected feature from GHV5 to the linked third party maps. 0 -
@Jack - There are a couple ways to do this. - Feature Hyperlinks - Utilize the Feature Hyperlinks functionality build a URL and pass in the OBJECTID. However, the user would need to go into the Feature Details or Map Tip to link from each feature specifically.
- Workflow - Utilize a Workflow to build more complex URLs, such as passing a map extent or building complex URLs. This Workflow can be added in several places to operate on a single or multiple features.
- Hard Code URLs into the Attribute Table - We don't generally recommend this method due to long term maintenance but it works.

Hi Tom, I appreciated your help.
I'm afraid my question is not about passing varibles from the seleted features in GHV viewer's main map to another online map via a hyperlink, but to pass variables to the "Linked Maps" which is launched via the ShowExternalComponentView command, in that way it allows the GHV's map synch with the external map. However the ShowExternalComponentView command doesn't have any parameter that I could use as a vehicle to pass variables....

Jack,
Gotcha. So you will want to take a look at:
https://docs.geocortex.com/essentials/gvh/2.10/admin-help/Default.htm#gvh/admin/modules/integration-module.htm for more information about built-in integrations or look under Advance Frameworks at https://docs.geocortex.com/essentials/gvh/2.10/admin-help/Default.htm#gvh/admin/modules/integration-module.htm for custom integrations0 -
Thanks again Tom. the two links you mentioned are actual the same one, or were you trying to point me another link? I have read it in HTML5 admin & developer guide too. But still nothing really answers my question. Perhpas I need look into the HTML5 SDK. 0 -
