Searching for and Linking to PDFs by Metadata?

I would like to link PDFs to a parcel layer via roll number.  There is a many-to-many relationship between the PDFs and parcels. Is it possible to link to the PDFs by storing the roll numbers in the PDF metadata? Any other ideas on how to do this cleanly?

  Hi Joe,

   

  We don't have anything built in to Essentials that would know how to look things up in the PDF metadata.

   

  One solution would be to create an intermediate page that accepts the roll number as a parameter and searches through the PDF metadata for that parameter using some third party library.

   

  Most customers simplify things by using a folder or filename structure that matches up with attributes found in your data.  Then, you can construct hyperlinks directly to the items you're looking for (often legal drawings or similar), or write a workflow that can scan the filesystem for the appropriate files.
