When I get the core-connection error in the post-installer, my first task is to uninstall Geocortex Core from the machine (and maybe restarting) before running the post-installer again.  This isn't always effective so YMMV.

we have had this with previous upgrades. Like Zack we had to uninstall the core. there was one occasion when this took over 24hours so you may need to be very patient...

For the record,  Core issues can be quite complex and varied.  The issue Phil was seeing was two Core roles running at the same time, once the old one was removed, Core was happy again.  Removing and re-installing Core often resolves many issues, if the data is manually deleted as well, but losing Core data is not always a viable solution.  If it's a new install or you're not worried about things like saved projects, it's a quick fix.

Phil here. Just wanted to add that Wayne did a great job in quickling trouble shooting this issue for me.  It was pretty esoteric to me.  Checking for occurences of past core installations in the services window, was not on my radar.

Thanks again for the great support Wayne.
