Is there a way to split the legend in a print template into several columns?
In the Report Designer you can configure a legend.rpx as a sub report to show in a print template. However, it seems as if the legend cannot be split into columns. As a result the legend gets cut off (see image below)_img_ alt="User-added image" src="https://latitudegeo--c.na53.content.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=906f2000000XbqG&feoid=Body&refid=0EMf2000000YAPh"_/_img_
Is there a way to split the legend into several columns when the height of the legend control is reached?

Hi Marina,
There is a way, but it is difficult. The legend is a subreport, which is fed a table of legend items. Because the lines will expand when the text overflows, it is not easy to determine when the available space is filled.
Also, if you just break the report on the end of the line, you may end up breaking the legend in the middle of the categories rather than at the legend heading.
I know we did create a sample for someone a while ago, if I can find that I will post it to the Code Gallery.

Thanks Malcom! In the near future we will use Reporting 5. Does it work the same way in Reporting 5? 0 -
Malcolm, was the example found and posted? I too am interested in this, as I'm having issues creating a portrait print template. 0 -
Expanding on this topic: Is there a way to make the legend overflow to extra page(s) if it won't fit into it's first page? 0 -
Yes Ludwin you can do this by changing the behaviour of the legend to make the can grow option true as you can see below
