Failed to initialize site. The error was: Error loading http://gedemo.geocortex.com/Geocortex/Essentials/Prod/REST/sites/World_Cities?
I am receiving this error on some of my sites:
Failed to initialize site. The error was: Error loading http://gedemo.geocortex.com/Geocortex/Essentials/Prod/REST/sites/World_Cities?
Any thoughts on a remedy?

Hi Shaun,
That's a bit of a red herring. The issue is your site is not loading and when it tries to load the default site instead (World Cities) it is failing to load it, most likely due to an SSL issue. Can you look at the dev tools (F12) to see if there are any errors listed there, not related to the World Cities site? Also, can you successfully go to the Essentials REST endpoint for the site? If it fails, the error may indicate what the issue is.

Unfortunately those are related to the backup site not loading and not the real issue. Can you go to the Essentials REST endpoint? It might look something like -
https://maps.getclarity.ca/Geocortex/Essentials/Rest/sites/Pelmorex1
but that's just a guess based on the info above. It's a pink icon in the start menu on the server and it will be called "Geocortex Essentials REST API".
Also, I don't recognize your viewer URL, it seems odd to me. In your post it is listed as -
https://maps.getclarity.ca/Html5Viewer/Index.html?viewer=Pelmorex1/DemographicsSite_gvh
but I would have expected something like -
https://maps.getclarity.ca/Html5Viewer/Index.html?viewer=Pelmorex1.DemographicsSite_gvh
(a dot after Pelmorex1. The syntax is typically SiteName.ViewerName)

This is what I see when I click on the site Rest Endpoint and sign in

Thanks Shaun, that looks OK, I was expecting a site initialization error. I would recommend submitting a support ticket so an analyst can use Fiddler and see what is happening.
