How to upload excel file and then convert excel to dataset.? Please help.

It is not built into Geocortex Workflow. This has been traditionally a server side activity.
We (DDS) are in the process of publishing geoWidgets Conversion Activities to extend Geocortex Workflow 5 with client-side file conversion activities to import and export shapefiles, spreadsheets, text delimited files, and KML/KMZ in Web GIS.
We previewed this several weeks back at the Geocortex Partner Summit. We are working on an official listing on ArcGIS Marketplace that should be availabe this week. The functionality will include:
geoWidgets Export Activities
- Features to KML - Features to KML converts an Esri FeatureSet to a KML file object.
- Features to Shapefile - Features to Shapefile converts an Esri FeatureSet to a Shapefile file object.
- Features to Spreadsheet - Features to Spreadsheet converts an Esri FeatureSet to a variety of spreadsheet (.XLS, .XLSX, and .ODS) file objects.
- Features to Text Delimited - Features to Text Delimited converts an Esri FeatureSet to a text delimited (.CSV, .TXT, .DAT, etc.) file object.
- Save File - Save File activity allows end users to download the file objects created in the previous activities.
geoWidgets Export Activities
- Spreadsheet to Features - Spreadsheet to Features converts a user uploaded spreadsheet (.XLS, .XLSX, and .ODS formats) an array of Esri FeatureSets for use in Web GIS applications.
- Text Delimited to Features - Text Delimited to Features converts an Esri FeatureSet to a variety of spreadsheet (.XLS, .XLSX, and .ODS) formats).
- KML to Features - Coming soon...
- Shapefile to Features - Coming soon...
Documentation and workflow examples can be found at https://www.geowidgets.io/en/docs/geowidget-conversion-activities-geocortex-workflow-5/#features-to-spreadsheet.
I will let you know when it is available but if you need access immediately, please contact me directly.
Best,
-Tom

Ahmed - We have published our geoWidgets Conversion Activities (https://marketplace.arcgis.com/listing.html?id=34cd4e6cf2114610961b99798f8d875c) on ArcGIS Marketplace. If you subscribe (free), you will have access to read and write XLS, XLSX, and ODS files. We have documentation and sample workflows (https://www.geowidgets.io/en/docs/geowidget-conversion-activities-geocortex-workflow-5/) .
These Activities differ from the Geocortex solution as they are client-side and work with both the SaaS and On-Prem versions of Geocortex Workflow. They are a beta release and during the beta support requests will be free. We would love to hear your feedback on our solution. -Tom

What are the steps to get the On-Prem version of Workflow configured to work with these?

Tyson, these custom activities work the same way with On-Prem as with the Saas version. Still working on documentation, here is the Cliff Notes version:
- You need to get access to the Conversion Activities by going to https://marketplace.arcgis.com/listing.html?id=34cd4e6cf2114610961b99798f8d875c and clicking "Get It Now"
- Within the Marketplace Console, you will want to click "Manage Sharing" to share with any accounts that have access to Workflow 5.
- Login to your Geocortex Workflow On-Prem and the geoWidgets Activities will be at the bottom of the list in italic. You can use them just like other Activities within Workflow
To import the example workflows, you will want to use the instructions for each activity (e.g. https://www.geowidgets.io/docs/geocortex-workflow-activities/conversion-activities/features-to-spreadsheet/)
If you have any questions or difficulties, please feel free to contact me directly. Hopefully will have all the documentation fleshed out in the next couple weeks. Right now we are not charging for technical support.

I asked the wrong question. We are using ArcGIS Enterprise with the SAAS version of workflow. Can the Conversion Activities work with this configuration? I was able to find them in the marketplace and add them to our ArcGIS Online Organization. They are not showing up in the version of workflow that connects to our portal though.

They should. We have tested in both the Saas and On-Prem versions of Workflow.
Are you using the same AGOL account to login to Geocortex Workflow and ArcGIS Marketplace or different accounts? If different accounts? Did you sharing access to those the account you are logging into Workflow from Marketplace?
If you are using the same accounts, can you login to Workflow and check the developer console for any CORS errors.

@Tom Neer? , i have the same issue as Tyson. we're using SAAS and ArcGIS Online for Organisation for workflow5. couldn't see your workflows, and i checked no CORS error so far.

Jack - I am sorry to hear that.
Can you shoot me an email offline @ tom.neer@digitaldataservices.com. Let me know if you using https://apps.geocortex.com/workflow/Designer/ or do you have an custom hosted version of Geocortex Workflow, like Tyson did? Also, are you logging in with the same account that signed up for the Workflow Activity Pack or another. If another, did you Share the Activity Pack from the ArcGIS Marketplace console. Lastly, if you send a screen shot of any Console or Network activity errors, especially to cdn.geowidgets.io, it would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
-Tom
