Migrating all sites to New Web Server - altering site.xmls for changed URLs
All,
I have built/installed all GCE software on a new web server and am migrating all the sites to this new server. Since the server name has changed, all of the map service URLs need to be changed.
To make this part faster, I was going to open the site.xml for each site and perform a find/replace the server name vs. changing all the URLs for all the sites through GCE which would be mind-numbingly boring.
Is there any major problem with this method that I am not remembering? It seems to be okay based on the first one I have done.
Thanks,
Carmen

Carmen,
We recommend Actual Search & Replace (https://www.divlocsoft.com/) by DivlocSoft. You can target the Sites folder and perform a search and replace on all Site.xml files. This also works with Workflows, Reports and Viewers.
An alternative is a Site Migration tool development by Latitude. Maybe someone at Latitude can point to where the latest version is available. My copy if from 2017.
Best,

Thank you, Tom. I will take a look at that.

Tom,
"Actual Search and Replace" has already saved a LOT of time in getting sites up and running normally on a new server. I'm glad it automatically creates a backup file because it could be dangerous!
Thanks for the suggestion.0 -
Glad it helped. We find it a huge time saver. 0
