compass in viewer
I've just had an interesting request from one of our users. They'd like a compass in the viewer to assist in orienting themselves when a customer calls with descriptions like "The west side of Station Street".
Whilst obviously for me I have no issue in working out where west is, since the map always has north at the top of the screen, many of our users are not spatially minded. Is there an option somewhere that I'm missing, or a simple CSS method for displaying a compass on the map viewer? perhaps in the bottom right corner?

Hi Lauren,
I would recommend posting this to our "Ideas" section as the option does not currently exist in the HTML5 viewer. You may also want to have a look at the new viewer, GXM.

Could you somehow display a compass in a seperate service, maybe just draw a polygon of a compass, and then ues that service in the overview map popout and have that open by default in the lower right corner of the map area? 0 -
You could create a workflow with just a Display Form that contains a static image of a compass. Then, add an extra workflow container to the Viewers configuration for, say, the BottomRightMapRegion. Set the Display Forms 'Workflow Container Name' to the name of that container.
(See https://docs.geocortex.com/essentials/workflow/latest/help/Default.htm#wf/help/activities.htm#configure-workflow-containers)
Or, what about placing a static image of a compass in either the title bar, the Home Panel or the status bar?0
