Actually, I tested again, it is only turning off that does not work. If I activate the folder manually and run the WF again, the sublayer is turned off. Turning on works even when the folder is not active.

Does anyone have an answer to solve this issue ? It is misfortune a that I have to manually have to click the visibility of the group layer before the workflow activity is able to turn the visibility on and off.

I have had the same problem for some time and I don't think there is a direct solution in WF5 right now. In WF4 you have the Set Layer List Item Info activity to handle these situations. Unfortunately an equivalent in WF5 is still missing.

Other people on the forum also have your problem.

A workaround I have used is to create a layer theme where all the folders are turned on. The workflow switches to this layer theme when activated. Unfortunately this only works if you don't use folders with radio buttons.

@Kees Baake? I have used this in the HTML5 viewer but I don't know if it works in the new Geocortex WebViewer so it depends on which viewer you are using. It does look like that viewer also supports layer themes.
