Identify rectangle tool returns too many results

I am experiencing a problem another user had a while ago (Berend, on November 28th, 2014). When one selects the identify by rectangle tool and selects a polygon with one click/tap, many of its neigbours are also selected. That happens when the polygon is small. I understand from Jason Scharf (the person who replied to Berend) that the software emits a square with some default size values when the user clicks/taps the polygon he wants to select.

 

Is there a way to parametrize the size of the rectangle, to make it as small as possible ?
