GVH and Microsoft Edge

9/26/24: (I realize this is an old thread) - I have noticed a recent issue with GVH and Microsoft Edge.

At Microsoft Edge Version 129.0.2792.52 (Official Build) (64-bit) the left-click functionality for the map tip window pop-up is no longer working. The right-click functionality for the sub-menu of Find data on the map; Draw a Point; Plot a Coordinate; etc. is also no longer working.

I am just wondering if anyone else has reported this. Is this lack of functionality related to the deprecation of Esri Javascript API version 3.x?

I cannot reproduce this. Is there a public GVH viewer where you can where you can reproduce the error?

Please disregard this, but I do appreciate your response.

After hearing back from you I asked other users to check and they also could not reproduce this issue in their latest version of the Edge browser.

The issue was my settings in Edge. I reset the browser to default settings and the issue has been resolved.

I thought it was an issue in the Edge browser because I was experiencing this issue with both my office and at-home PCs.

The public GVH viewer is https://mcgis.mohave.gov/html5/?viewer=moh in case you were curious.

    Cheers,

Did you narrow down what setting caused this? We also have users with these symptoms and would like to help them to solve this.

9/27/24: My solution to this issue was the following:

*Please note that it is a good idea to have a backup of all favorites before performing this process. Favorites will be removed if your users do not log in to Edge with a user profile.*

In Microsoft Edge > go to the ellipsis icon/3 dots in the upper right-hand corner of the browser > Settings > left-hand side, scroll down > Click on Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values > Reset.

This resolved my issue with my office PC since my organization manages my browser settings.

    Hi Steven

We are faced with the same issue in our corporate managed Edge browsers. We are on version 129.0.2792.65 and all of a sudden our left and right click menus don't respond and most of our menu tools don't load like Streetview, Google maps, Bing integrations and a swag of other non OTB buttons. I have done the reset to default values and it works on my machine locally, but have not checked yet if the managed settings come back or after a PC restart if problem comes back as well.

Have you worked out which group policies or settings may be effecting this? I would love to work out a fix other than emailing all staff to reset their browsers. Chrome and Safari users are not effected.

    Cheers Steffen

    10/1/24:

    Hi, Steffen.

I figured out that when a specific extension is enabled, Bitwarden Password Manager, the right and left click menus do not respond in the GVH map viewer in the Edge browser. I have this extension enabled for the Chrome, Firefox, and Brave internet browsers that I also use and do not experience any issues with right and left click menus responding.

I have this extension installed on Edge in both my office and at-home PCs. When I disable this extension, then F5/refresh the browser, the right and left click menus respond again. No need to reset to default values with this method.

I also noticed that I when I open the GVH map viewer in an Edge InPrivate Window, right and left click menus respond (extension still enabled) when this extension's settings box is unchecked for ‘Allow in InPrivate.’

I have performed very minor testing with the conclusion that this certain extension that I have installed in my Edge browser affects right and left click menu functionality in the GVH map viewer.

Hope this helps and would be curious to what Edge browser extensions are causing this issue that you and your users are also experiencing.

    Cheers!

Wow that just hit the nail on the head for us. Its been a small group of effected users, but sure enough its all us super secure (until they get bitten like LastPass) Bitwarden users! At least know I can rest easy we aren't going to have any downtime for the majority of users. I will look into this more in hopes for a fix. I wonder who's problem this is really is. Edge, Vertigis or Bitwarden. Unlikely a fix coming from Edge or Vertigis though right?

    10/3/24:

Yes, I agree: a fix for this issue is probably not going to happen, but at least the problematic Edge extension was found and there is a workaround for it.

Thank you for letting me know that the issue you and your users were experiencing had to do with the same extension. I do not believe there are many users in my work network environment using the Bitwarden extension for their Edge internet browser, but at least I know how to troubleshoot the issue now if a public GVH user reports it to our IT Help Desk.

    Cheers!
