Measure Tools Failing in Browser

I have several GCX sites that have the Measure functionality enabled.  I have been getting random complaints that the Measure tools fail.  User is able to select Measure with Line tool, draw their line but the resultant measurement never becomes visible to the user.  This occurs in Firefox and Chrome at least, possibly more. Is there a known issue that is unresolved?  Or is there a workaround or solution?  I cannot replicate this problem on my browser/computer which leads me to believe it's related to the specific browser/implementation.

  So we found a solution to this.  The Geometry service we were using to return the Length value from our ESRI server failed.  The error is apparent in Google Chrome's developer tools console.  The Geometry service is not exposed to the outside world through out DMZ/firewall.  Therefore, we switched to using ESRI's generic Open World Geometry service.  Is there any risk in using this service instead?

  Geometry service needs to be shared with the public (or organization) to use it in a map along with access to the browser via port (6443 from ArcGIS server).
